Full of good intentions, and not a little Glenmorangie, my New Year’s Resolution was to start and maintain a blog throughout 2021. This from a man whose last New Year’s Resolution was never to make any more New Year’s Resolutions!
Just as I’m about to put finger to keypad, the threat, then the reality of another lockdown looms over the horizon, effectively shutting down my antiques shop for the foreseeable future and putting any number of cats amongst a whole host of pigeons.
Chins up I guess, although in my experience of the average rugby front row, that just makes it easier for them to punch you square in the mush.
The reality is that non essential shops closing for a few weeks pales into insignificance, put up against the risk to human life of remaining open. And no, I don’t think it spells the end of the High Street, i just think the High Street will have to re-think itself to accommodate a changing world. It was ever so.
But positives will prevail. Stay tuned for adventures in the wonderful world of antiques throughout 2021 and beyond!
